School Performance Monitoring System

Category: Strategic Government Analytics & Educational Risk Management

Tools Used: Power BI Desktop, Advanced DAX, Power Query, MS Excel

Target Audience: Ministry of Education Leadership & School Inspectors

The Challenge

In a large-scale educational system comprising 50+ schools, government leadership often lacks a unified, real-time view of institutional health. Traditional reporting is often fragmented, making it difficult to identify schools requiring immediate intervention before academic results decline.

The Solution

I developed a 3-Tier Interactive Dashboard that aggregates academic and operational data into a single source of truth. By combining academic achievement (EmSAT scores) with operational stability (Teacher Turnover and Student Attendance), the system categorizes school health and prioritizes intervention through automated visual alerts.

The Data Architecture

The project utilizes a relational dataset of 50 schools across three key regions: Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, and Al Dhafra. Data was cleaned and transformed using Power Query to ensure 100% integrity across subject scores, staffing ratios, and attendance records.

The Weighted Risk Index (The Core Innovation)

To move beyond simple averages, I engineered a Weighted Risk Score. This metric identifies "at-risk" schools by prioritizing operational stability.

Formula:

Risk Score = (1 - (Attendance Rate) * 0.6) + (Teacher Turnover Rate * 0.4)

DAX Measures

I utilized Data Analysis Expressions (DAX) to create dynamic KPIs that react to slicer selections:
